El circuito
Unión Radio es un conjunto de emisoras de radio venezolanas en AM y FM organizadas en circuitos, que se orientan hacia varios tipos de audiencias. Uno de sus eslogans más conocidos es «Todo el tiempo en todas partes», pero cada circuito de Unión Radio tiene uno propio.
Unión Radio planta sus semillas en 1969 cuando se funda Exitos 1090 AM, emisora en amplitud modulada, de la mano de Enrique Cuscó Nogués y Musiú Lacavallerié, personas reconocidas en los medios audiovisuales, tanto en el ámbito gerencial y de dirección de empresas como en el del talento artístico.
A finales de los años 70, Éxitos 1090 se reingenia y comienza a crear esquemas novedosos musicales, de programas y promociones, que da pié para que a principios de los años 80, un grupo de radiodifusores regionales se unan a esta emisora en Caracas bajo el nombre de Unión Radio.
Los primeros pasos de Unión Radio abarcaban dos áreas principales: programación y comercialización.
Posteriormente, en 1988, Venezuela avanza hacia la radio FM, y Unión Radio saca al aire la 1era emisora comercial de este tipo en Venezuela, la 107 –hoy Circuito Mega operado por Unión Radio–. En 1989, acuerda la operación en conjunto de la frecuencia 99.9, para esos días llamada Hits 100 y hoy denominada Circuito Éxitos también perteneciente a Unión Radio.
Todo esto, encuentra motores en un grupo de jóvenes emprendedores que para esos días no pasaban de 30 años pero si contaban con el conocimiento y las ganas de trabajar para lograr la meta original: ser el Grupo de emisoras de radio más importante de Venezuela. En los años siguientes, Unión Radio fue el primer grupo en tener transmisión vía satélite a más de 30 emisoras con sedes en diferentes ciudades del país, que combinaban programación local con programación nacional, hoy en día Unión Radio lleva programación nacional de sus 6 señales a más de 54 emisoras afiliadas a lo largo de Venezuela.
En 1991, se desarrolla el proyecto más ambicioso de Unión Radio: hacer una emisora de 24 horas de información (Unión Radio Noticias). Se crean departamentos de prensa e información, para tener la posibilidad de cubrir los principales hechos noticiosos generados en el país. Después vinieron Onda (1997), Deportes (2005) y Cultural (2012).
Unión Radio genera 6 señales diferentes, dirigidas a públicos específicos: • La Mega – Circuito juvenil top 40 • Éxitos – Circuito adulto que combina entretenimiento e información y música anglo • Onda – Circuito Adulto que combina entretenimiento, humor y música en español. • Unión Radio Noticias – Circuito informativo 24 horas • Unión Radio Deportes – Circuito de información deportiva • Unión Radio Cultural – Circuito resalta los valores de la cultura venezolana.
En cada uno de estos circuitos, se reúnen las más reconocidas voces y líderes de opinión de cada uno de los segmentos a los que se encuentran dirigidos, mezclados con música similar a los contenidos que transmite, logrando desarrollar marcas homogéneas, únicas para la radio venezolana y universal.
Cada uno de los circuitos de Unión Radio tiene una cobertura de 2/3 del territorio venezolano, llevando contenido producido y de interés para los venezolanos. Cuenta con sedes en las 7 ciudades principales de Venezuela y más de 750 empleados directos, 150 productores nacionales independientes y 300 empleados indirectos.
Luego de esta reciente temporada de pandemia y cambios, en que muchas emisoras de radio vieron afectados sus roles y gestión diaria, Unión Radio sigue liderando como uno de los dos circuitos radiales con mejores resultados de audiencia, negocios, crecimiento e innovación de Venezuela
